The Gnostic Apocalypse of Peter
Nag Hammadi Edition
The Gnostic Apocalypse of Peter contains one of the most incendiary passages in all suppressed scripture: a description of the crucifixion in which Jesus laughs. In Peter’s vision, a joyful Jesus stands beside the cross while the physical body is nailed to it. The one who is crucified, Jesus explains, is only the substitute — the material shell. The living Christ cannot be killed.
