The Bhagavad Gita

The Song of God

The Bhagavad Gita — the Song of God — is a dialogue between the warrior Arjuna and his charioteer Krishna on the battlefield of Kurukshetra, moments before a cataclysmic war. Arjuna cannot bring himself to fight. Krishna’s answer constitutes the entire text: eighteen chapters of philosophy on duty, the nature of the self, the paths to liberation, and the nature of the divine.
