The Shepherd of Hermas

The Shepherd of Hermas is one of the most widely read texts in early Christianity, bound into some of the earliest Bible manuscripts including the Codex Sinaiticus. It was treated as scripture by Clement of Alexandria, Origen, and Irenaeus. For the first two centuries of Christianity, it existed on the fuzzy border of the canon, read alongside the Epistles in church services.
