TOPIC INDEX
Early Christian Apocrypha: A Reading Index
Non-canonical Christian gospels, revelations, dialogues and related texts, organised around surviving evidence rather than stories of secret councils and suppression.
What does apocrypha mean here?
Codex ISO uses the term descriptively for early Christian writings outside the New Testament canon, not as proof that every work was once a candidate for inclusion.
Different genres
The archive includes sayings collections, revelatory dialogues, theological reflections and narrative works. Calling all of them lost gospels can hide those differences.
Read source-first
Each edition foregrounds manuscripts, translation provenance and uncertainty before later interpretation.
